Master Class
This term we have eight masterclasses scheduled for our gymnasts. These one-off classes on Saturdays from 1.30-2.30 are a great way for the girls to learn more about different styles of dance, conditioning, nutrition and to also be able to interact with more members within the club. This concept was first trialed in term 1 and we were very happy with the results. Each masterclass costs $5 for the gymnasts who are level 3 and up. For anyone else that wishes to join in please email ggigymclub@gmail.com in advance to check the class availability. Some classes to look forward to this term are yogalates, salsa dancing, contemporary, inferno Pilates and jazz.

CLOSING DAY: THANK-YOU & PHOTO UPDATE
A very quick kia ora koutou to everyone who participated and joined us at our Closing Day.
The displays are the part of the year that the gymnasts often look forward to without the pressure of competition season on them and I know that the parents will have enjoyed seeing all the girls having fun with their team-mates during their performances.
All the photos that we took at Closing Day and at the Yearbook photo-shoot will be processed over the holidays. There are over 3000 photos to go through so there should be some good ones in there (and if not, then you need to sack the photographer for next year!).
There will be more information coming about the photos with how and when these will be available to you once we have finalised a few more details (mainly cost), but in brief the three offerings will be:
1. Team photo (the one where I braved my fear of ladders... you had to be there... and thanks to those who were and held the ladder steady!!!)
2. Yearbook: photos of gymnasts from the photo-shoot plus some other related photos to keep as a nice memory of the gymnasts that your daughter has been involved with over the year.
3. Digital Disc: this would include the Closing Day displays on video as well as various other photos yet to be confirmed.
We will email club members and post information up here as soon as we can confirm all the details.
In the meanwhile, please enjoy your summer with your families, have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and we look forward to seeing you all and welcoming our new gymnasts in 2016.

The Market Day is always lots of fun and a great place for young people to come and have a go at some rhythmic gymnastics skills.
We would love some helpers to talk to families and hand out our fliers.

Thanks in advance for any support.. it's a nice easy way to give back to the Club and also a chance to hang out with other parents and committee members. There is usually a good coffee cart just around the corner, too...... :D

QUIZ NIGHT 30th August 2015
Calling all raffle prizes!
If you and your family or a business you are involved with can donate raffles prizes for our annual QUIZ NIGHT, then now is the time to collect them and bring them into the gym.
It is also a good time to get a team together. If your daughter is likely to be travelling to NZ Nationals this year, the Quiz Night is a way to help raise funds towards the costs. Nationals gymnasts who provide a team, will get a share of the money raised towards the cost of their trip.
The bonus is that it is always a fun night out as well!

2015 AUSTRALIAN NATIONALS
Ella has now returned from Australian Nationals in Melbourne. The results from the trip meant that none of the individual NZ gymnasts came home with any medals, although they all made NZ very proud. It was a tough competition; as anyone who has represented NZ in Australia knows. It was a fantastic result that the Sub-Junior Group secured a bronze medal so that the NZ Team could bring something glittery home.

Rosie Hardie and Ava McFadgen have just returned from a trip to compete at the Queensland State Championships where they also caught up with Sonya Andrews who used to be our Club's Head Coach and her sister Nicole Rawson who used to coach for GGI. GGI Gym Club will have a stall like last year to promote our Club.
The Market Day is always lots of fun and a great place for young people to come and have a go at some rhythmic gymnastics skills.
We would love some helpers to talk to families and hand out our fliers.
If you can give some of your time between 10am and 1pm then please email us to let us know here.
Thanks in advance for any support.. it's a nice easy way to give back to the Club and also a chance to hang out with other parents and committee members. There is usually a good coffee cart just around the corner, too...... :D
CONGRATULATIONS to all the gymnasts who will be representing OTAGO at this year's Nationals.
We wish you all the best for the competition beginning at the end of this month at the Trusts Arena in Auckland.

2015 NZ Nationals Announcement
GymSports NZ is pleased to confirm that the 2015 NZ National GymSports Championships will be held at The Trusts Arena in Auckland from 30 September to 4 October.

QUIZ NIGHT 30th August 2015
Calling all raffle prizes!
If you and your family or a business you are involved with can donate raffles prizes for our annual QUIZ NIGHT, then now is the time to collect them and bring them into the gym.
It is also a good time to get a team together. If your daughter is likely to be travelling to NZ Nationals this year, the Quiz Night is a way to help raise funds towards the costs. Nationals gymnasts who provide a team, will get a share of the money raised towards the cost of their trip.
The bonus is that it is always a fun night out as well!

Spectators welcome: please remain quiet and seated during routines and support all the gymnasts who have worked hard to be there.This competition may run early so it is good to be aware when planning what time to come to the gym.
All the best to our gymnasts and hope their first NZ competition of the year goes well for everyone!

IGA RHYTHMIC COMPETITION, TAURANGA
23rd & 24th May 2015
Congratulations to our gymnasts who travelled up to compete in Tauranga in May, taking the opportunity to catch up with a past family of our club!
Congratulations on the following placings:
Sophie Turner: 4th overall Level 6
Lauren Isaacs: 1st place overall Level 7
Annie McDonald: 2nd in rope and clubs Level 7
Ali Bloem: 1st place Stage 4

2015 AUSTRALIAN NATIONALS
Ella has now returned from Australian Nationals in Melbourne. The results from the trip meant that none of the individual NZ gymnasts came home with any medals, although they all made NZ very proud. It was a tough competition; as anyone who has represented NZ in Australia knows. It was a fantastic result that the Sub-Junior Group secured a bronze medal so that the NZ Team could bring something glittery home.

Congratulations to Ella Hjertquist who is travelling to Melbourne, Australia 23rd - 31st May with the NZ Rhythmic Team to compete at the 2015 Australian Nationals.

2015 QUEENSLAND STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Rosie Hardie and Ava McFadgen have just returned from a trip to compete at the Queensland State Championships where they also caught up with Sonya Andrews who used to be our Club's Head Coach and her sister Nicole Rawson who used to coach for GGI. Thanks to Kendall King and Regan King for accompanying them.
