Greater Green Island Rhythmic Gymnastics COVID-19 Vaccination Policy
This policy sets out Greater Green Island Rhythmic Gymnastics (GGI) vaccine requirements as they apply to employees, members, and volunteers. This includes coaches, officials, managers, parents, and participants (12 years and three months of age and older).
Since The Dunedin City Council (DCC) owns the Caledonian building that GGI uses for training and competitions, GGI is governed by the decisions and policies the DCC use. The DCC have implemented the use of vaccine passes as outlined on their webpage and summarised in this document. From the DCC webpage: https://www.dunedin.govt.nz/news-and-events/public-notices/COVID-19-information Visitors aged 12 and over are required to show their vaccine pass at the majority of our facilities, including those that are independently managed. Visitors to all our facilities must also sign in and wear a face covering. DCC run sports facilities e.g. Mosgiel Memorial gymnasium, Caledonian gym and Caledonian ground: A vaccine pass is required for entry to the gyms.
From Monday 6th December 2021, only those people who are fully vaccinated (i.e. have completed a NZ Government recognised course of COVID-19 vaccination) will be able to access GGI facilities/activities. This applies to anybody 12 years and 3 months of age and older.
GGI will require proof of vaccination prior to entry to the DCC’s facility and activities (Caledonain gymnasium). This will include showing, scanning or emailing a copy of your digital COVID-19 Vaccination Certificates.
If a gymnast is just turning, or have turned, 12 years old, they have 3 months to obtain their vaccine pass.
Children under the age of 12 years 3 months DO NOT require a My Vaccine Pass. However, people accompanying these children into our gym must have and show their vaccine pass. GGI does not anticipate requiring vaccine passes for children under 12 years 3 months of age even when this age group is eligible to be vaccinated. The New Zealand Government has indicated that they will not require these children to hold a vaccine pass at this stage, and therefore neither will GGI.
Vaccination Status As Coivid-19 vaccinations are required, GGI may ask individuals to disclose, and/or provide proof of, their vaccination status. Information regarding vaccination status is collected for the purposes of our health and safety management planning, implementing this policy, and to identify any relevant support measures (related to Covid-19). GGI will hold this information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. You are not required to give this information and if you choose not to provide proof of having received the vaccine, or do not wish to disclose your vaccination status then we will respect your personal choice and right to that privacy. In the interests of health and safety, those unable or unwilling to provide proof of vaccination when requested, will be treated as though they have not been vaccinated.
People who have a medical exemption from vaccination can obtain a My Vaccine Pass that is indistinguishable to the passes for people who are vaccinated. They can show their pass for entry to the gym without declaring to GGI that they are exempt. There are very few people who qualify for a medical exemption. NO other letter/documentation/declaration will be accepted as exemption for entry to the Caledonian gym. More information on temporary medical exemptions can be found here: https://www.health.govt.nz/.../covid-19-vaccine...
In addition to this policy, GGI will maintain a range of appropriate and complementary measures in its facilities/activities to further minimise the risks associated with COVID-19, as well as following all guidance set out in the legislation and public health guidance. The conditions of entry before coming to the facility or taking part in activities include: · Stay home if unwell · You must have produced evidence that you are fully vaccinated to gain access to our facility/activities · You must wear a mask when entering the building and transitioning from one area to another · Wash or sanitise hands before entering the facility/activities · Scan your QR code every time you enter facility or at activities (gymnasts do not need to do this as they will be recorded on the roll) · You must abide by any distancing requirements that apply e.g. 1m at Red level
The COVID-19 health questions that will need to be answered include: · You do not have any symptoms associated with COVID-19 (e.g. fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, sneezing/runny nose or loss of sense of smell) · You are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 · You do not have COVID-19 nor are you awaiting the results from being tested for COVID-19 · You have not been in contact with any known or suspected cases of COVID-19 in the past 14 days · You have not returned, or been in contact with anyone else who has returned, from overseas in the past 14 days
GGI notes that this policy is based upon the information currently available from the NZ Government and the DCC and it is subject to change as we learn and understand more about how New Zealand manages the fight against COVID-19 in our communities. In addition, the Government may mandate that the DCC or GGI take certain steps. This policy may be revoked, amended or replaced at GGI’s sole discretion on reasonable notice in the circumstances at that time.
We thank you for your understanding as we implement these requirements which aim to ensure the safety of our whole gym community as much as possible. If you have any questions, please email [email protected] and the committee will endeavour to respond as soon as possible.
